André Schumacher

A Few Words About André Schumacher

Born in Rostock, Germany, André studied architecture in Potsdam and later Art, Design, Sculpture, Philosophy and Sociology at the College of Art in Edinburgh. After three years as a freelance architect on the Canary Islands he gave up his job, returned his apartment and pasted his daily routine on the drawing board – initiating an unusual cycling journey from Patagonia to Alaska: Pole to Pole.

During and since that time he works as a freelance photographer and travel journalist. He's also a member of the established stock photo agency laif in Cologne. Recurring themes in his photo-journalistic work are the simple life and the joy of travelling, the uniqueness and beauty of our planet and its fragile balance.
André recounts his travels in elaborate photo and film shows infecting his audience with humour and vivid freshness.

Every year André produces the top quality Pole to Pole photo calendar, donating the net profit to handpicked sustainable development projects around the world.

When André isn't travelling he lives in Berlin, Kathmandu and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
